For a sleep sound mixer, Berceuse comes out ahead. Music and sounds share one mixer, a baby library and Siri are built in, and it costs $20 to $30 less a year. BetterSleep adds a sleep tracker, stories and kids content, and here is how the two compare.
We make Berceuse. We tried to be fair to BetterSleep: every BetterSleep price and feature below comes from its App Store listing or its own FAQ, checked in October 2026.

BetterSleep prices are from the US App Store, checked in October 2026. Its listing shows premium prices from $11.99 to $99.99 without labels, with $59.99 and $69.99 among them. Berceuse prices are US prices; local prices vary.
Berceuse puts sounds, music and baby sounds in one mixer
Both apps let you layer sleep sounds and set a volume for each one. Berceuse goes further on the sound itself. Its mixer holds sounds and music together, so a playlist plays under your rain or noise. If you mostly build a mix and press play, Berceuse does that with more to choose from, for less.
Sounds and music together. You can stack up to 10 sound layers on iPhone, or 6 on Android, each with its own volume slider. Under them, a playlist plays on its own channel. As of September 2026 there are more than 900 sounds and music tracks (268 sounds and 636 tracks), in 202 ready-made mixes and 106 playlists. So you can play rain on a tent with soft piano, or a crackling fire with jazz, and keep each part at the level you like.

A full baby library. Womb sounds, a mother's heartbeat, shushing (rhythmic, soft and whispered), a lullaby hum, stroller and car rides and bath water. Baby music covers music box, toy piano and mobile-style lullabies, with 10 baby lullaby playlists. When you create a mix, you choose whether it is for you or for a baby.
Siri on iPhone. Say "Play rain on Berceuse", "Surprise me on Berceuse" or "Stop Berceuse in 30 minutes". It works on iOS 17 or later, in all six of the app's languages. There is no Google Assistant support on Android.
A gentle stop. The timer runs for 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. The sound fades out over the last 30 seconds instead of cutting off.
Offline play. Download mixes and playlists with a subscription, and they play offline for up to 30 days between subscription checks.
No ads, no tracking. Berceuse has no ads and no analytics SDK. It collects your email, user id and purchase history, and uses them to run the app.

What BetterSleep does well
BetterSleep, which used to be called Relax Melodies, is a broad sleep app with a mixer at its center. It has 4.7 stars from about 391,000 ratings on the App Store, and it is an Editors' Choice.
- A mixer with a timer. More than 300 sounds to layer, and a sleep timer that stops the sound after a set time.
- A sleep tracker. You can track your sleep in the same app that plays your sounds. Berceuse has no sleep tracking.
- Stories. If you like a voice at bedtime, BetterSleep has stories. Berceuse has none.
- Kids content. It has content made for children.
Berceuse costs $20 to $30 less a year than BetterSleep
Berceuse costs $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year in the US. BetterSleep's yearly plans sit between $59.99 and $69.99 in its US App Store listing, checked in October 2026.
That makes Berceuse $20 to $30 less a year. For that lower price you get a larger library (more than 900 sounds and music tracks, against more than 300 sounds), music in the same mixer, a baby library and Siri. Both have a free trial: Berceuse's is 3 days, and BetterSleep's is 7 days. You can cancel Berceuse any time in your app store settings. See Berceuse prices.
Is BetterSleep still free?
No. BetterSleep's own FAQ says "BetterSleep is no longer a free app". The change came in 2025. A common complaint follows from this: sounds that used to be free are now paid. If you once used Relax Melodies for free, you now need a premium plan. Premium prices in its US App Store listing range from $11.99 to $99.99.
Berceuse has no free tier either. Before paying, you can browse and search the whole library, hear 10-second previews and start building a mix. Saving a mix and listening need the subscription.

Search by name: everything with rain in it.

The mixer: each sound has its own volume, with music underneath.

Then choose the sounds.
Why Berceuse is the better choice for a sleep sound mixer
- Music sits in the mixer. Up to 10 sound layers on iPhone (6 on Android), each with its own volume, and a playlist on its own channel underneath. More than 900 sounds and music tracks as of September 2026.
- A baby library in the same app. Womb sounds, heartbeat, three kinds of shushing and 10 baby lullaby playlists, with a create flow that asks if the mix is for you or a baby.
- Siri, hands-free. Start a mix or set a stop time by voice on iPhone (iOS 17 or later), in six languages.
- A lower price. $39.99 a year, against $59.99 to $69.99 for BetterSleep's yearly plans on the US App Store, checked in October 2026.
- Nothing in the way. No ads, no tracking and no analytics SDK.
Who should still pick BetterSleep
Berceuse has no sleep tracker, no smart alarm and no stories. BetterSleep is the better pick if:
- You want to track your sleep in the same app that plays your sounds.
- You like stories at bedtime.
- You already have a mix you love there and do not want to rebuild it.
